Not less than 3 million Nigerians who invested in the MMM scheme have been affected by the freezing of their accounts. Recall in the 1990s, following the collapse of MMM in Russia, up to 50 people reportedly committed suicide and there are expectation such a situation may arise if as expected the Ponzi scheme has collapsed in Nigeria. To this end, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA) has urged residents to alert the agency by calling 112 should they spot anyone attempting to commit suicide.
