Rebecca Akufo-Addo (neé Griffiths-Randolph) is the wife of Ghana’s president-elect Nana Akufo-Addo. She is the daughter of late Justice Jacob Hackenburg Griffiths-Randolph who was a former Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana during the Third Republic. A big supporter of her husband’s aspirations, when asked in a recent interview about his interest in politics, Rebecca Akufo-Addo said, “Politics makes Akufo-Addo tick. He lives and sleeps politics. He has so much that he wants to do for his country and wants to be given the opportunity to put Ghana in the right place on the map. At times it can be painful and very upsetting to hear what people come up with about him – people who hardly know him. They will come out and say very, very nasty things all because of politics, and I must say our politics is degenerating into a bad state of affairs.”
