The twenty recently released Chibok girls have begged Nigerians to pray and fast for the release of the rest of the abducted girls. The girls made the call at a special thanksgiving service held Sunday in Abuja to celebrate their release. The service, which also doubled as an event for reuniting the girls with their parents, was held amidst tears of joy. The News Agency of Nigeria quoted one of the girls, Gloria Dame, as saying: “We stayed for one month without food,” while giving testimony on behalf of the girls. “I narrowly escaped bomb blast in the forest. I never knew there would be a day like this that I would give thanks to God,” she said. Nigeria’s minister of Inofmation, Lai Mohammed, said “This is a day the entire world has been waiting for. It is a day of joy.” Over 200 shoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram militants over years ago in Governmnet Secondary School, Chibok, Borno state.
